Cultural Journey to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam | Oct 25-28, 2024
Our recent cultural trip to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, was an enriching learning experience for students pursuing the Diploma in Tourism Management, as part of their Tourism, Cultural, and Heritage studies. The trip focused on the relationship between cultural heritage and tourism, giving students an opportunity to engage with the destination in a meaningful way.
As part of their assignment, students created vlogs to document their experiences, highlighting aspects of local culture, lifestyle, and the role of cultural heritage tourism in the region.
A major highlight was the group’s journey along the Mekong River, as well as a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels, where students gained first-hand insight into Vietnam’s war history. Exploring these tunnels provided a deeper understanding of the country’s past and its impact on its cultural landscape. The students also visited key landmarks such as the Central Post Office, War Remnants Museum, and the bustling Ben Thanh Market. At the market, they interacted with local vendors and learned about the dynamics of tourism and commerce, including the art of bargaining.
This immersive cultural journey offered valuable insights into Vietnam’s rich heritage and its influence on tourism.
