The event management students of Diploma in Tourism Management recently organised a station games event “Tourathon” at SENTRAL College Penang on 21st July 2019. The main objective of this event is for DTM students to apply their knowledge and theories learned in the subject of ‘Event Management’ into practical.
The events start off with the opening ceremony and briefing by the president of the “Tourathon” event. Right after the briefing the games begin. The participants need to follow the clue to find the game station and complete the task. The games are divided into two sessions, one is the outdoor games and the other one is indoor games. All the games are related to tourism areas.
This event is one of the platforms for tourism students to hands-on their knowledge and challenges their ability in terms of communication skills and decision making as well as working as a team. These events also develop their self-confidence, self-esteem and resilience.
Overall, the event was a success and the students able to apply all elements that they learned in class.
